BLOOD CLOTTING
• Blood clotting prevents blood flow from body & it uses a variety of clotting factor present in Plasma in inactive state.
CLOTTING FACTORS
(I) Fibrinogen (synthesized by liver and released in blood plasma)
(II) Prothrombin (synthesized by liver in the presence of vitamin K )
(III) Thromboplastin (released from injured tissues and blood platelets at injury)
(IV) Calcium ions
(V) Labile factor
(VI) Accelerin (Acceptance of this factor is not existing)
(VII) Proconvertin / stable factor
(VIII) Anti-haemophilic factor-A(AHF-A)
(IX) AHF-B/Christmas factor
(X) Stuart power factor
(XI) AHF-C
(XII) Hagman's factor
(XIII) Fibrin stabilizing factor
• Anticoagulant prevent blood clotting.
e.g. Heparin = In human blood plasma.
Hirudin = In leech saliva.
Anopheline = In female anopheles mosquito.
